Optometrist/Owner

Hello! I’m Lauren, I was born and raised in the Edmonton area and graduated from the University of Alberta with a BSc in Biological Sciences. I went on to earn my Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University, Florida. While there, I was president of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honorary Society and recipient of a number of awards recognizing my academic and clinical excellence, leadership skills, and  commitment to community service. During my externships, I worked alongside prominent ophthalmologists to diagnose and manage ocular diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. In addition to ocular disease, I have a special interest in the areas of dry eye disease, digital eye strain, pediatrics, and corneal/contact lens technology.  Promoting ocular health globally, I was actively involved in VOSH (Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity) through my involvement with the Special Olympics and serving the underprivileged in Ecuador.

After graduating, I returned home to Edmonton and have been fortunate to practice in a variety of optometric settings, which has fueled my desire to open The Monocle Optometry. I love getting to know my patients, treating them like family, and providing them with quality eye care and eyewear.  I place importance on taking the time to educate and thoroughly answer all questions, so you have a fuller understanding of your vision and ocular health needs. During my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and 3 young sons. When I’m not cheering on my boys at their hockey and soccer games, you can find me enjoying the outdoors or scoping out the newest restaurants in town. I am very passionate about health and fitness, traveling, fashion, and interior design.

Dr. Kirstin Stayer, OD

Optometrist

Hi, I’m Kirstin! I’m a born and raised Albertan, originally from Red Deer and I completed my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary while also competing on their varsity swim team. After university, I made the move to Oregon to pursue my degree in Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry. During my time there, I was involved in several organizations including a position on the board of Amigos Eyecare, a chapter of the global optometric outreach organization, VOSH (volunterring Optometric Serevice to Humanity). I was also a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honours Society where I took part in various community and academic initiatives.Over the course of my final year in school, I had the opportunity to complete multiple externships across the United States in a variety of settings, including rural communities, veterans hospitals, and busy urban surgical centres. These experiences allowed me to work alongside both Optometrists and Ophthalmologists that are leaders in their fields, exposing me to a wide variety of patient cases and experiences. I am passionate about the management of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and dry eye, as well as finding the ideal glasses prescription and contact lenses for my patients. My goal is always to ensure all my patients walk out of the exam room with an improved knowledge about their eyes and with all their questions answered. In my free time, you can find me either cooking, trying new foods, heading out to the mountains to ski and hike, or spending time with friends and family.

Hi, I'm Sydnie! I am new to the Optical industry, joining The Monocle Optometry in early 2022 with an extensive background in administration, marketing and customer service.  I pride myself on being able to build amazing relationships and offer the best customer experience. I love working with patients and help others, so I have decided to focus my career by pursuing the Certified Optometric Assistant program.  I have a lifelong passion for eyewear and really believe that the right pair can change a life! When I'm not at work you can find me trying new restaurants with my husband, curled up at home with a good book or at the dog park with my best pal Phoenix.

Hi, I'm Danielle! I started my optical journey working in a practice at 18 years old and fell in love with it instantly. After 10 years in the industry, I decided to further test my knowledge and venture into Ophthalmology. While learning in depth about the surgical aspect of eye health has been a highlight of my career, I decided my heart was always in the optical field. There is no better feeling than helping a patient find a pair of glasses that make them look and FEEL amazing! I am honoured to work for a woman-run company, and I deeply value being able to support and help women to feel beautiful and empowered. I pride myself in customer care and love getting to know each patient I have the pleasure of helping. Outside of work, I spend my time with my husband and family, trying new restaurants and spending weekends in the mountains.
